Nation-state, globalization and development models

This symposium is an opportunity to debate and formulate the paths of an adequate reflection for the different explanatory approaches to development. The starting postulate is the result of the fact that in some countries, particularly in the Arab-Muslim, African and Latin American cultural space, the socioeconomic take-off is slow in coming.
What are the causes ? Are the blocking factors related to the economic question, the state, the history nation, or the cultural problem or all that at once?

To respond to this wide and deep interrogation, the conference is part of a global approach and a multidisciplinary approach to the intersection of political science, law, economics, sociology, psychology and history. .
In order to understand the interference of these disciplinary fields in the development process, three axes, which are the subject of three sessions, will analyze the foundations, dimensions and consequences of the inheritance of socio-economic processes in the possibilities of drafting reforms and breaks necessary to draw the contours of a development aiming at the satisfaction of the fundamental rights, the resorption of the inequalities, the social and territorial fractures, the respect of the dignity and the citizenship. This implies to question actors, ideas, public policies, economic and social forces that may carry interests and common logic for a project of sustainable development and solidarity

The axes of this activity will be the subject of three sessions. They will revolve around the following themes:
Axis 1: Political, cultural and institutional prerequisites for development?
Axis 2: The problem of the model and its transposability?
Axis 3: Reasons, modalities and extent of public intervention in the genesis of development (alternative public policies)
